DUBSTEP RANT: X OUT BRITNEYSTEP

Okay, so I have never done a random post like this before, but this is my blog after all, so ranting is occasionally acceptable. For the people who actually LIKE and LISTEN to dubstep on a daily basis, this is just sad. Britney Spears released her new britney-step (NOT dubstep) tune called "Hold It Against Me" a couple weeks back, and believe me Britney, I'm most definitely holding this atrocious piece of crap against you! Does it not bother anyone else that when dubstep finally makes it onto radio, it's because of Britney Spears? Does it not bother anyone else that this song is a pitiful imitation of dubstep, and it's the one getting all the exposure? THIS would be the death of good dubstep, and thankfully for those of us who listen to and love the genre, we can distinguish the difference between a song that contains half a wobble(cough*britney*cough), and a chune that showers you in grime. I'm all for the attention and exposure of dubstep, but if that means britney spears is responsible, then EFF that. For those of you who have not heard this chune yet, save yourself the disappointment and don't even bother, hence why I refuse to link it within my blog. I mean, with dubstep growing exponentially, shouldn't it be represented to the public for what it is? The scene has a plethora of talented individuals, and they are the one's who define dubstep, so it puzzles me why someone who has absolutely NO relation to the scene or genre is now going to be an icon for little teeny-boppers and n00bs in the world of dubstep. As Flux Pavilion tweeted, its not DUBSTEP, it's britney-step, so do not confuse the two....EVER.

  2. You're right, the dubstep in Britney's Femme Fatale songs are not like the 'hardcore' or 'pure' dubstep, but it's nice. A lot of people started to know dubstep thank to Hold It Against Me, so, where's the problem? Now everybody listen dubstep and the dubstep artists, Skrillex, etc. Brit just did something new and fresh, you gonna criticize her for that? Anyway, HIAM is pretty cool.
Hey, if you don't like HIAM, you may be like Freakshow (of Britney, of course), it's considered the first song to include dubstep in pop.
